The journey began in Muscat, with three nights at the Crowne Plaza Muscat, perfectly positioned to enjoy the city's spectacular coastline and relaxed atmosphere. With a private beach, swimming pools and a choice of restaurants, it provided an ideal introduction to Oman and a chance to unwind after the journey from London.
Exploration soon followed, with a snorkelling excursion to the Daymaniyat Islands offering the opportunity to discover some of Oman's beautiful marine life. Surrounded by turquoise waters, colourful fish and vibrant coral, the experience provided a completely different perspective on the country's natural beauty, with the possibility of spotting turtles along the way.
Back on land, a private Muscat city tour revealed the cultural and architectural treasures of the capital. From the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque to the historic Al Alam Palace and the atmospheric Muttrah Souq, the experience offered an insight into Oman's heritage, traditions and distinctive character.
The next chapter of the journey was perhaps its most spectacular. Travelling by private 4WD, the itinerary headed into the mountains towards Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, perched approximately 2,000 metres above sea level on the dramatic Saiq Plateau.
Set high above the canyon, the resort combines extraordinary scenery with exceptional five-star luxury. Three nights in a Premier Canyon Room provided a spectacular base from which to appreciate the surrounding mountains, while the resort's spa, infinity pool and collection of restaurants offered plenty of opportunities to relax and indulge.
Beyond the resort, the mountains opened the door to another side of Oman — from traditional villages and ancient forts to the historic city of Nizwa, renowned for its souks and rich cultural heritage. The combination of dramatic mountain scenery and timeless traditions made this a particularly memorable part of the journey.
From the cool heights of Jabal Akhdar, the itinerary then travelled south to Salalah, where three nights at The Club by Fanar brought a completely different atmosphere. Set beside the Arabian Sea, the all-inclusive resort offered the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the region's beautiful coastline after an itinerary filled with exploration.
With its contrasting landscapes, rich heritage, exceptional hospitality and remarkable variety of experiences, Oman proved to be a destination where adventure and luxury sit effortlessly alongside one another.
